Pollyhedraville

Pollyhedraville is a project I did for school.  It is a city that you make out of geometric shapes.  You figure out the area of each shape, and then you add up the cost of the building.  Then from there you add up the cost of the city.  My city was full af weird buildings and one really tall building.  I really like how my project turned out.

Snow Days

Snow days are interesting for  me.  Mostly we go to our cousin’s house and go sledding or make cookies or something, or my dad will work at home and I will be bored.  I’ll watch the snow drift quietly on it’s way to the cold, hard ground that will be it’s only escape from the chilly wind that makes the temperature go down five degrees.  I will be bored out of my mind, so I will try to read a book that I  have read 67 times.  I will put the book down and try to get my brother to play Scrabble or Stratego.  He will probably decline, and go back to some weird computer game.  I then will wander the house trying to find something to do.  I will then go back to my book and try to concentrate on it.  And on that will go on for the rest of the day until we have dinner, then we will be able to go to the library and I will have some sort of variety on my book choice.

I am not against snow days, but I don’t exactly jump for joy when one  comes.

My New Year’s Resolution

My new year’s resolution is really weird.  It would have been to do better writing in cursive in school because in middle school my dad said it was faster to write in cursive.

I think it is important to make a new year’s resolution because you can set a goal  to acheive by the end of the year.  Just if you want to know, my new year’s resolution is to have a better new year’s resolution next year.

My Gifted Tests

I took several tests in the process of being gifted.  One was the Meyers – Briggs tests.  Another one was the Colors test.  Yet another one was the Learning Skills test.  In the Meyers – Briggs test, I was identified as a INFG which means I am a mostly inverted person.  In the colors test, I was found as orange with a score of 11.  My second color was green with10, then gold with 8, and finally, blue with 7.  For the learning style, I was 3 for visual, auditory, and kinisthetic learning.  The scores for the Learning Styles test mean that I can work equally in all areas.

Being Gifted

Being gifted does NOT mean you are smart in all areas.  Being gifted to me is that you think differently than other people.  Here is a gifted poem by Judith Schulze:

GIFTED

by Judith K. Schulze

Golly! I just took a test
That says I’m different from the rest.
What am I?  Well, I must confess…
I’m “gifted.”

The psychologist said right from his heart,
“I fear that you are rather smart
And from this day you are to start…
Being gifted.”

I think I turned six shades of green
And developed pains down to my spleen.
I asked, “Whatever does it mean?
This word ‘gifted’?”

He said, “You have a high I.Q.
I wish, my child, that I were you!
Why I’d give an arm or leg or two
To be gifted.

My thoughts immediately went adrift
And each idea I did sift.
At last I said, “Give me my gift.
Then I’ll be gifted!”

He laughed for all that he was worth
And nearly doubled up with mirth.
“This gift you have you’ve had since birth.
You’ve BEEN gifted!”

I thought and then when he was done
I asked, “Am I the only one
In this whole school or under the sun
Who is gifted?”

He named the two or three percent
Of students who to classes went.
And then I knew just what this meant,
About gifted.

It could be the best news I’d heard,
But then I thought about a word
And screamed, “But, must I be a nerd
If I’m gifted?”

He laughed again when I was through.
“My child, you’ll always be just you
But smarter than all except a few
‘Cause you’re gifted.”

“Will I be perfect?  Get all A’s?
Make the Honor Roll?  Get lots of praise?
Have no homework nights and easy days?
Well, I’m gifted!”

“No, others may expect such things;
Just do your best.  Be sure it brings
True joy to YOU!  You’ll soar on wings
And enjoy being
Gifted.”

I think this poem truly describes being gifted.  If I had all my brains taken out and put into a line, I expect some people would think that the line would stretch on for miles.  In actuality, I could be better in Science and Social Studies.  Basicly, being gifted is about being creative and just a little smarter than some people.

What Inspires Me

Today we did a collage on what inspires us.  We chose a color of paper.  Then we chose some magazines.  We then looked through the magazines and cut out stuff that inspired us.  We cut up words to find letters, we cut out a ton of candy bars, and we cut up pictures that inspired us.  All in all, I like my insparation board.
